Demonstration of Learning Evidence

Appendix 1 – Communication

  • Evidence 1.1 – Therapeutic Play
    • Certificate earned in 2023 from the Institute of Child Psychology. I included it because it demonstrates how I learned to use play-based methods to communicate with children and teach emotional regulation, as well as photo examples of how I incorporated therapeutic play into my practice.
  • Evidence 1.2 Speech Script
    • A script from a Professional Development presentation I spoke at in 2024 to staff members across six schools. I included it because it demonstrates my ability to influence and communicate clearly and professionally to a large audience.


      Appendix 2- Information Gathering and Organization
  • Evidence 2.1 – SEL binder
    • Resource binder I created in 2024 for school staff with SEL activities organized by grade and topic. I included it because it demonstrates my ability to gather, categorize, and organize resources to support classroom interventions.
  • Evidence 2.3 – Proof of Need (Social Work)
    • A document I created in 2025 for administration outlining the Social Work Technician’s role and contributions within an elementary school. I included it to show how I gathered and presented evidence to advocate for systemic support.
  • Evidence 2.4 – Applying Mindfulness Techniques to Alternative Classroom
    • Project I conducted in 2023 to reduce behavioural challenges in an alternative classroom in my Elementary School. I included it because it demonstrates how I observed, organized, and applied strategies to meet student needs.


      Appendix 3- Applied Knowledge and Skills
  • Evidence 3.1 – Psychological First Aid Certificate
    • Certificate I earned in 2025 from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. I included it because it shows that I have learned to support mental health during crises and traumatic events.
  • Evidence 3.3 – Crisis Prevention Intervention Certificate
    • Most recent refresher of my CPI certification earned in 2024. I included it because it demonstrates my up-to-date skills in crisis prevention and safely de-escalating crises.


      Appendix 4- Independent Learning and Study
  • Evidence 4.1 – Special Care Counselling Certificate and Association Membership
    • College recognition of acquired competencies earned in 2019 from Champlain Regional College and Association membership obtained in 2025. I included it to show my formal foundation in supporting individuals and communities with diverse needs, while completing a program independently.
  • Evidence 4.2 – Brain Story Certificate
    • Certificate earned in 2024 through the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative. I included it because it demonstrates my knowledge of brain development and its link to one’s mental wellbeing.
  • Evidence 4.3 – Alternatives for Families – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Certificate
    • Certificate earned in 2025 through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. I included it because it shows my training in counselling strategies for families experiencing relational and behavioural challenges.

  • Evidence 5.1 – Trauma-Informed Coaching Certificate
    • Certificate earned in 2025 from the Centre for Healing. I included it because it demonstrates my ability to recognize physical trauma responses and support clients through regulation strategies.
  • Evidence 5.2 – Client Profile Example
    • Example of an edited profile I created for a student with Oppositional Defiance Disorder in 2018. I included it because it demonstrates how I indicate challenges, problem-solve, and plan interventions based on individual needs.
  • Evidence 5.3 – Intervention Plan Examples
    • Edited examples of two intervention plans I created in 2024. I included them because they show my decision-making in identifying triggers and behaviours, and my ability to problem-solve by teaching personal boundaries and supporting students in practicing boundary-setting skills

  • Evidence 6.1 – Children’s book Anna-Lee and her Anxiety
    • A childrens book I wrote and published in 2024. I included it to show my creativity and ability to teach and communicate strategies for anxiety management in an age-appropriate way.
  • Evidence 6.2 – Understanding Childhood Anxiety Certificate
    • Certificate earned in 2025 from the Institute of Child Psychology. I included it because it shows my skills in recognizing triggers and symptoms of anxiety, and supporting children through it.
  • Evidence 6.3 – Resilience Scale Training Certificate
    • Certificate earned in 2025 from the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative. I included it because it demonstrates my knowledge of how life experiences and systemic support shape resilience in children.


      Appendix 7- Teamwork and Leadership
  • Evidence 7.1 – Support Staff Meeting Plans
    • A documented plan for meetings I organized and led in the 2024–2025 school year. I included them to demonstrate my leadership and collaboration with fellow support staff.
  • Evidence 7.2 – DYP Coaching E-mail to Staff
    • An example of an e-mail I sent to colleagues in 2025 with guidance on reporting potential child abuse. I included it because it demonstrates my leadership and communication skills in supporting staff with sensitive and uncomfortable processes.
  • Evidence 7.3 – Reference Letter
    • A letter written by my former teammate who I worked with from 2022 to 2025. I included it because it demonstrates my professionalism and reliability as a team member, as well as my commitment to learning to become a better leader within my roles.

  • Evidence 8.1 – Snack Donation Tracker
    • A spreadsheet I created during the 2024–2025 school year to track food and monetary donations. I included it to show my ability to collect, organize, and analyze numerical data
  • Evidence 8.2 – Nurturing Support Centre Tracker
    • A series of graphs I created during the 2024–2025 schoolyear showing student usage of my Nurturing Support Centre. I included them because they demonstrate my numeracy and data organization skills.
  • Evidence 8.3 – Sensory Tools Grant Request
    • Grant request I wrote in 2024 to purchase sensory tools for students. I included it because it demonstrates my ability to use numeracy to budget and justify funding needs for the school.

Appendix 9– Counselling & Trauma-Informed Practice

  • Evidence 9.1 – Social Work Technician Job Description
    • Job description from my role as a Social Work Technician in the elementary school sector (2021–2025) retrieved from the classification plan from the Management Negotiating Committee for English-language School Boards. I included it because it shows the professional expectations and trauma-informed skills required in this role.
  • Evidence 9.2 – Photographs
    • Photographs of games I designed, activities, and decorations I set up in my Nurturing Support Centre between 2023-2025. I included them to show how I used play to communicate and teach therapeutic tools to students.
  • Evidence 9.3 – Emotional Regulation Workbook
    • Part of a workbook I created for my students in 2023 to use when learning emotional regulation skills and tools. I included it because it demonstrates how I learned to teach emotional regulation to children in a child-friendly way of understanding.
  • Evidence 9.4 – Family Resources
    • Printed list of bilingual local resources and a poster I created in 2024 placed in the school’s parent pick-up area, offering local resources for families. I included them because they show how I organize and share vital information with families in order to provide support and relief.

    • Job description from my role in the high school sector (2019-2020) retrieved from the classification plan from the Management Negotiating Committee for English-language School Boards. I included it to demonstrate the responsibilities and skills required to support students academically and emotionally.
  • Evidence 10.2- Lesson plans
    • Lesson plans for two of my WIN programs I created in 2024. I included it because it demonstrates how I used visuals and play to teach Social Emotional Learning to students with IEP’s.

Appendix 11 – Creative Learning and Development

  • Evidence 11.1 – Published children’s book
    • A digital copy of my children’s book Anna-Lee and Her Anxiety. I included it to provide an example of how I used creative methods to teach children tools to help them regulate their anxiety.
  • Evidence 11.2 – Piano
    • An example of a song I learned on piano in 2023. I included this video recording because it shows how I learned music by applying numeracy skills such as recognizing patterns, counting beats, and sequencing notes which strengthened by ability to connect numbers to real world learning.
